Before 2005, theme park industry in Hong Kong is dominated by Ocean Park Hong Kong. The opening of Hong Kong Disneyland in 2005 changed the market structure of Hong Kong’s theme park industry from a monopoly to a duopoly. Both parks provide elements of entertainment but position themselves differently in the market. The emergence of Hong Kong Disneyland has brought a great challenge to Ocean Park, a local theme park with less global recognition. Different strategies are implemented by Ocean Park to face the competition.
