In terms of mental health, it was reported that Fred has inappropriate behavioral tendencies of property destructions and physical and verbal aggression. Regarding physical health, Fred has no medical issues, had no difficulties with movement, and appeared to be mostly in good health. At the same time, however, Fred was overweight for his height and there was evidence of poor habits in his room, such as empty energy drink cans. Lastly, Fred’s social health seemed to be satisfactory. For instance, he appeared to have positive relationships with his roommates and staff. Moreover, it was reported that he has a girlfriend and enjoys spending time with her and that he is active in a church. On the other hand, it was also reported that Fred’s family is not involved in his life at all, which can sometimes be detrimental to one’s social health. While Fred’s overall health may not be considered optimal, he has several supports to aid in his functioning. One of these supports is psychotropic medication, which suppresses Fred’s behavioral issues and contributes to his mental health. It was also reported that Fred enjoys riding his bike, a support that contributes to his physical health. However, many individuals with IDD require specific supports that should be provided by their staff or the state. The OK-AIM Monitor program helps to ensure that these individuals are receiving the supports they need and that their quality of life is satisfactory. Should there be deficits in these areas, OK-AIM monitors serve as advocates for the individual with IDD by reporting that information to the OK-AIM staff, who can then warrant appropriate changes. This case study discussed the observations made during an OK-AIM monitoring visit with Fred, an individual with IDD. Then, the five domains of the Conceptual Framework of Human Functioning were applied to his life, and the supports he utilizes were identified. From the observations outlined in this case study, it can be affirmed that there has been substantial progress in the treatment and inclusion of individuals with IDD, but also that there is still a lot of progress to be
