The aim of this poster is to explore the effects of the new 30 hour scheme of free child care.
What is New 30 hour scheme of free childcare?
The new 30 hour scheme of free childcare extended free childcare entitlement for working
parents of three- and four-year- olds will provide eligible parents with a total of 30 hours of
free childcare per week, over 38 weeks or the equivalent number of hours across more weeks
per year.
Why is it contemporary?
The new 30 hours scheme of free childcare is contemporary because it is current recent social

The new 30 hours scheme of free childcare may lead to close
private nurseries and childminders due to the reducing government funding cost and also the
rising cost of staff may cause the nurseries to close because they may not be able to afford to
have more staff, which will affect the child and staff ratio. The private providers are
concerned that the money being offered by the government to provide the service will not
cover the costs of looking after the children.This has impacted nurseries in the UK that may
shut down because many providers do not think they have the capacity to offer 30 hours free
of childcare, (The guardian, 2017). This has an impacted on children because children and
their families may struggle to find a places in nurseries due to the nurseries closing down
