The hotel was completely different to the ones from America. It was cheap, clean, and comfortable. First was the front where we take off our shoes and wear sandals. We then go to our rooms greeted by all the staffs and guide us to our vast indoor hot spring and very traditional bedroom where we will sleep. The food we order was a huge seafood cuisine that just made my jaw drop. It was really fresh and beautiful from how clean it was. My dad told me that we are close to one of many fish market in Tokyo.
The next day and forward, we went to a Ghibli Museum, where we saw many art pieces from Laputa, Spirited Away, Totoro, and more, all made by an animator named Hayao Miyazaki. Japan is very famous for creating japanese cartoons called anime. I am a big fan of this as well as my friends who knows ghibli films or anime. This place was a lot more rural than in Tokyo. There was green farms, abandoned mines within the mountainside where plants grew over, and a beautiful view of the blue sea. This was also where I get to see my grandma and grandpa for the first time and went hiking together and ate barbeque with my cousin in Hamanaka on the cliff shore. Another thing that I noticed in Hokkaido was that I had seen bikes and very expensive items being left in the open areas. People who owned these stuff had no worries of crimes at all. This was when I learned that Japan has one of the lowest crime rate in the world. I couldn’t do this in America because I don’t trust the public at all. Therefore, I was very surprised by it. We stayed in Hokkaido until the month ended and headed back home with many things that I had learned over this
