This genius, whose choice of words may be far from politically correct, gave us one of the most important assessments that help teachers recognize a gifted or talented student. It was through this assessment that he found out that gifted and talented students often become gifted and talented adults. This test I am speaking of is, of course the Stanford-Binet test. I believe that instruction needs to change all the time in order to insure that all students attain mastery of the content. I wholeheartedly believe in the power of problem solving and taught my students how to answer questions on standardized tests by problem solving. First, what is the question asking? Second, are there any dumb answers in the list, if so eliminate them. This is evident in some of the feedback provided on one of my artifacts of assessment. Dewey focused on much the same thing. He was convinced that all students learn by doing, and by observation. All students learn differently and at different times in their lives. We all know this, but that came from Jean Piaget. He researched thousands of students over hundreds of tests to determine what stage of development the students were in. Piaget was the first to believe cognitive development was important and needed to be considered in the educating of a child. When Piaget founded his cognitive development theory, he blew the minds of the educational leaders of that time. Prior to that time educators struggled with what and at what age core subjects were to be taught. I think my next steps in student learning also follow in line with creating the right learning environment. We worked hard so all students would trust the classroom culture we created. I had two boys who talked all the time. I sat them
