My Listening Survey Paper

This listening survey helped me take a very close look at how I effectively communicate to others throughout the many exchanges on any given day. Also, how I actively listen to the person and respond to them. Although I am attentive and a patience listener, my spouse believes that there is needs to be some improvements with the facial expressions and body language. An example of how I communicate, the individual is given direct contact at least eighty percent of the time. I listen without interrupting or judging them during the conversation. Although this is not always easy, I have learned to be an effective communicator via different training and development workshops down through the years.
For example, Crisis Prevention Intervention training focuses on de-escalation techniques as a method of prevention. Communication is a key factor in the ability to de-escalate any crisis. If an individual is highly agitated and creating a hostile environment, I would make myself non-threatening to the other person. Then allow the individual personal space to vent and express

I did not realize that I was doing this whatever we had a conversation. Since he has brought this to my attention, I have started practicing in the mirror and changing my facial expressions to make sure that I am reacting in a positive way to what is being conveyed to at that time. In addition, my husband mentioned that I was an attentive and empathic listener. He felt as though I always listened and cared about what the other person is conveying. Furthermore, it would allow the individual to release their emotions and reduce tension to help them problem solve. This positive feedback and advice were very encouraging and uplifting to my spirit. Which helps me to be authentic, patient, clear and an effective communicator by simply listen to other and help them problem solve their issues without judging
