My Boyfriend Brant's Lose-Win Paradigm

Improved Essays
My boyfriend Brant is no cow, so it’s very easy to push him over. Brant’s “pushover” ways are because of his lose/win paradigm. There are many paradigms of interactions and everybody has displayed them all before, but Brant loves to practice the lose/win paradigm the most. A lose/win paradigm is an interaction where Brant loses in his favor while the other person gets their way and wins. Whether he is interacting with me, his teachers, his friends or even his own sister, a lot of the time he gives up what he wants to make the other person happy. He doesn’t mind putting other people’s wants before his own needs, like staying up on an important day to booking too many plans for the day. I remember one night when I slept at his house, I wasn’t able to get any sleep. It was around midnight and we were laying in bed when he asked me if we could go to bed soon. Obviously I said that he could sleep right now and I’ll read a book until I could sleep. He wasn’t exactly satisfied with that answer and decided to stay up with me until I was sleepy. He didn’t mind losing on his own sleep so I could have his company until I was tired. Another time around me he demonstrated a lose/win paradigm was when he has an important meeting to attend to during the evenings. He likes me to go with him for most of the get togethers so I can help him out. Though I love to go with him and I usually do, sometimes I’m not really in the mood to go. During those times Brant may beg for me to go with him, but if I’m adamant about not going he will leave it be. He doesn’t mind letting me win by not going even though he would lose because he wants me there. Brant usually puts what I want first in his list of …show more content…
Brant is a great student who is very active in the community and enjoys learning, which makes a lot of his professors love him. Often his professors ask him to join their clubs or represent them in some kind of meeting after class because of his great reputation. Brant can’t really seem to say no to them and he ends up with a full schedule most weeks! Even though it makes him lose his free time, he likes to do what his professors say and make them happy. During those after class meetings, his professors usually like him to contribute greatly to the agenda. By “contributing greatly” I mean that he pretty much runs the meetings from top to bottom to discuss a certain topic that he had planned out. It takes a lot of time to plan all of that. He really does enjoy doing it, but it’s a huge burden on his day to day schedule and he doesn’t have much time for other things. Brant doesn’t mind doing these things for his professors even though it is an inconvenience to
