"Do you think we've passed that island yet? The place has a reputation—a bad one" (Connell 2). The Island is surrounded by water so you can only get to it by boat. When Rainsford is on the island he uses the environment to help him survive. On the island, is trees and a lot of wildlife. Hadleyville is a western town with a tiny population. The theme is about knowing when it is ok to kill. In The Most Dangerous Game, Rainsford is asked to hunt people but tells Zaroff he would never be a murderer. He does not agree that people should kill people, but at the end of the book he goes back to kill Zaroff. "Surely your experiences in the war did not make me condone cold-blooded murder" (Connell 12). This is telling the reader that you should never kill people for fun. It is also foreshadowing to the end of the book when Rainsford kills Zaroff. In High Noon, Will Kane is defending his town. His wife Amy, thinks it is never right to fight or kill people. When Will tells her he needs to go back she gets very scared, and upset with him. "Will, we were married just a few minutes ago- doesn't that mean anything to you? We've got our entire lives ahead of us" (Coleman 64). After they get back into town she tells him that he can leave with her, or she will leave by herself. Both themes are very similar and lead to the main character killing someone to defend his

Whitney’s depiction of his past experiences with the island has an ominous tone. The eeriness with which Whitney felt a chill while there was no wind gives the impression that something extremely strange and abnormal is present, thereby giving the island an aura of ominous mystery. In addition to creating a mysterious aura, the absence of natural phenomena develops suspense early in the story, as it is associated with frightening scenes. Furthermore, Connell starts the story with a discussion, in which Whitey tells Rainsford about Ship-Trap Island, a place that “Even cannibals wouldn 't live in” (Connell 1). Whitney only tells Rainsford that the island is dangerous and cannot provide an…

In High Noon the main character Will Kane is conflicted with many miniature conflicts, but the main one is he has to take down Frank Miller and his possy. On the other side in the story “The Most Dangerous Game”, the protagonist Rainsford gets stranded on an island, and then is hunted by a man named Zaroff who is a superb hunter and Rainsford has to survive a hunt against him. “The Most Dangerous Game” and High Noon are different in their own ways, but they also share similarities in its main characters, they are also similar in the conflicts and different in settings. The Sniper and Cranes have differences that give two opposite ideas of the story. The main focus of The Sniper targets the civil war and the repercussions that follow it, whereas Cranes focuses on the loyalty one has to family and friends. The Sniper expresses the toll the war has taken on the soldier and how it affects him by giving detail about the feelings and thoughts he has about the war. The author wants the reader to know that the sniper is dedicated to his duty and does not think twice about the decisions he has to make. In Cranes, the opposite occurs; Songsam goes out of his duty and gives Tokchae the chance to escape instead of taking him to be killed, as he volunteered to do in the first place.…

Similarities and differences of Red Badge of Courage and Soldiers Heart The books Soldiers Heart and Red Badge of Courage are very similar to the concept of war and the torment it takes on the psyche of the mind but the books do share their differences. Being different, it is expected that they should have different features to them, being few, the differences have a major impact on the development of the story. Also, both the novel and the film have the same take on the civil war, which makes them seem very alike when you look at the root of the stories. Finally, the authors’’ opinions on the civil war are almost identical, the war is savage, brutal, and takes a toll on anyone who participated in it.…

Another key difference between the story and film is the duration of the game; in the film the duration is just one night while in the story Rainsford must survive three days in the purgatory created by General Zaroff. The final difference is how Zaroff dies, in the film Eve and Rainsford make their way through the swamp and into Zaroff’s bedroom where he ultimately kills Zaroff. In the story however the plan to kill Zaroff is much more convoluted and Rainsford has to jump off a cliff into the water and swim to the Chateau and then just as in the film, Rainsford kills Zaroff. All in all there are many similarities as well as differences in ‘The Most Dangerous Game’. The story in a way makes the game seem as a terrible situation which all though it is a horrible situation in both cases, in the film adaptation you see the most dangerous game as being something that can be won.…

Another example of plot similarities, is that Rainsford sets the same traps in both versions of The Most Dangerous Game. In both interpretations of the story, when Rainsford is challenged to the hunting game by Zaroff, he sets a sapling trap, a hole trap, and a sand trap. Despite these and many more similarities, there are also notable differences in the two storylines. One example of a great difference is that there is a time difference in the versions of the story. The theme in this story or the main message is that look at things in different perspective. I think that is the message in the story because during the story Rainsford is very proud to be a good hunter, but he didn’t think about the perspective of the animals. He only thinks that hunting is a sport he is passionate about but he doesn’t care about the hundreds of animals that he killed but collecting their heads to hang on his wall. One of the irony in this story is Rainsford is a hunter and he said that the world is made up of 2 classes the hunters and the huntees but by the end of the story Rainsford becomes a huntee and experience the pain and fear of getting hunted.…
