"Do you think we've passed that island yet? The place has a reputation—a bad one" (Connell 2). The Island is surrounded by water so you can only get to it by boat. When Rainsford is on the island he uses the environment to help him survive. On the island, is trees and a lot of wildlife. Hadleyville is a western town with a tiny population. It is isolated and the only animals were horses and other barn animals. The street was always empty indicating Will Kane was all alone. The Most Dangerous Game and High Noon have a different conflict. In High Noon, Kane is not running away from Frank. He is going to face him to kill him and his gang. In The Most Dangerous Game, Rainsford is running away and hiding from Zaroff. He also has to escape from dogs. General Zaroff, a world class hunter, is bored of hunting animals. The theme is about knowing when it is ok to kill. In The Most Dangerous Game, Rainsford is asked to hunt people but tells Zaroff he would never be a murderer. He does not agree that people should kill people, but at the end of the book he goes back to kill Zaroff. "Surely your experiences in the war did not make me condone cold-blooded murder" (Connell 12). This is telling the reader that you should never kill people for fun. It is also foreshadowing to the end of the book when Rainsford kills Zaroff. In High Noon, Will Kane is defending his town. His wife Amy, thinks it is never right to fight or kill people. When Will tells her he needs to go back she gets very scared, and upset with him. "Will, we were married just a few minutes ago- doesn't that mean anything to you? We've got our entire lives ahead of us" (Coleman 64). After they get back into town she tells him that he can leave with her, or she will leave by herself. Both themes are very similar and lead to the main character killing someone to defend his
