The Greek's have always had a strange stance in people's mind but in their fables lye morals that can still inspire people, the country, and the world today. This is why in the fables if a certain animal does not follow the moral than they can sometimes end up dead! The certain moral that appears in most of the stories is the importance of spending your time wisely. From “The Fox and Sheep's Clothing”(Aesop) to the story of Perseus the moral of the importance of spending your time wisely always appears.

The Greek's always told many myths and legends but they also told the importance of spending time wisely. This is why the importance of spending your time wisely is shown in many stories they have created. For example in “Heroes Every Child Should Know: Perseus”(Mabie), when Perseus stops to think about something he always comes out successful. Also, in the part of the story when Perseus is asking the Nymphs the way to the gorgons “they ask him to stay and dance”(Mabie), but Perseus focuses, makes sure he gets his job done, and doesn't waste time. Perseus is a great example because throughout his journey he is always spending his time wisely and getting his job done.

In her essay, “On Compassion”, Barbara Ascher uses ethos and references to Greek tragedy to demonstrate the purpose of her essay; that compassion can be learned by witnessing the adversity or poverty around you, and that we should not ignore the helpless, because they remind us of our own selves. Ascher also uses examples of current events related to the homeless to emphasize her perspective on compassion. She believes that compassion is something that is learned, not a character trait. Ascher uses pathos to convey the purpose of her essay. Ascher suggested that living in a big city like Manhattan allows you to see more poverty and homelessness than places like Wyoming, and that even though a lot of people in the city want to escape that, those conditions allow them to start to empathize with the homeless.…

The universe is unkind, and there’s nothing you can do but try to appease the gods, keep your head down, and stay out of their business. To the Greek view they’re a necessary evil.…
