Storage is the maintenance of information over time which allows us to keep the associations we make towards certain information. There are certain aspects of storage such as capacity and duration that characterize it. In order to distinguish the differences between these variables, we can categorize our memories into long-term and short-term. Short-term memory is found to last only 30 seconds whereas long-term memory is believed to last a lifetime. Since education is critical, I would want this information to be enforced into my long-term memory. Chunking information allows me to group complex facts into a more simplified version so that it’s easily understood and pulled out of your storage without any complications. When I’m reading the textbook I can chunk vocabulary words into different assortment. Referring to the chapter on memory, I could chunk the terms into memory problems, processes, and techniques which can be smoothly stored into my declarative memory, which is composed of facts and events.
