The Americans defended their movement west by the “Manifest Destiny”. As the United States moved west they also moved native inhabitants out of their home out west, making them leave their homes, belongings and families behind. Mexico owned part of the land that the United States wanted for example, California. Mexico didn’t want to sell their land. So in order for United States to get that land they declared war in an unjust way. Document A shows how the United States also used Texas in order to get more land from Mexico by putting canons on the land that was technically Mexico’s land. Document B explains how Mexico viewed the actions from the United States and they described it as “the United States invasion” not the “Mexican war”. Provocatively, the United States ended up getting what they wanted which was the land. The annexation of Texas to the United States was inadmissible.
California was taken by the Americans because they wanted to get gold using the “Manifest Destiny” they moved towards west. On Document E it says how “nearly the whole of male population of the country have gone to the gold districts...” a lot of the people moved because they had found gold.
