Mexicans and Americans are closer to war than ever before. When Texas gained its independence in 1836 there was a dispute in the borders. American troops were north of the Rio Grande when fired upon by a bigger force of Mexican troops. This event started the Mexican War. So should have the US have been able to go to war with Mexico. The United States was justified in going to war with Mexico because Mexicans are treating Texans badly, Mexicans shot at American troops, and American wanted to reach the Pacific Ocean.

In Doc.B. it says,”Mexico has passed the boundary of the United States.” This means that Mexico was invading America. In Doc.B. it shows that Mexicans shot and killed Americans. This evidence shows the US was justified in going to war with Mexico because now Mexicans were harming Americans. Mexico was a threat and they had to go to war to stop them.
A third reason the Mexican War was justified was because Americans wanted to reach the Pacific Ocean. In Doc.A. it says,”Mexico can never exert any real government.” This means Mexico was weak and it would be easy to take land from them. Also Doc.A. shows that the US wanted California and that Americans were already in California. This evidence shows the US was justified in going to war with Mexico because Mexico was to weak to have a war. Americans wanted the land and by force they would take it.
This is why it was okay for the US to go to war with Mexico. The US had no other choice, but to go to war with Mexico. It was important that it was justified to go to war or else many US citizens would be angry about the war.
