Eventually, she leaves her parents behind and makes her way to New York City, where she goes to college and finds success. Similar to how Jeannette had to overcome the obstacles between her and her success, her parents in The Glass Castle, I had to overcome the obstacle between me and my success, my bones.…

In the film Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, it has shown me how much young girls and women in worldwide are not getting the equal opportunities compared to men. As I was watching the film, many young girls are not getting educated due to their non-supportive environments where their family traditions are for women to be working for the family as they do not believe in women getting education, and as a girl they are to be married off to or sell their body to support family financially. Before I watched this film, I knew women in other countries did not get education because their family economic situations and unsupportive family for females in the household, but these ideas were just so normalized to…

Out of all of the books I read this summer, Into The Wild was by far my favorite. To me, Chris McCandless’s story was both heartbreaking and motivating, and I admire his commitment to living on his own. I also enjoyed the format that Krakauer followed when writing the book. Above all, I believe Krakauer did justice to McCandless’s story, and proved that he was not an ill-prepared and incompetent teenager like some people believe. When Jon Krakauer wrote this book, he chose to study McCandless’s story and discover the truth to how he died and why he ran away from home in the first place.…

After watching, Period Piece, one thing is clear, if you're 15 or 80 it seems like you never forget what it was like when you first started your period.
