The study by Keverline, S. A. (2003), gives insight on how gender plays a role in criminal justice. Typically, criminal justice is a predominately white male field. Yet, during the recent years criminal justice has expanded its professionalism to a variety of backgrounds including women. What makes this study distinguishable from the rest is that it primarily focuses on a single group. It would have been great to see this study or any other study also focus on other minority groups as well. Nevertheless, this study is distinct because it does focus on at least one minority group in the field. The study by Courtright, K. E., & Mackey, D. A. (2004), examines which jobs criminal justice majors desire the most. What distinguishes this study from the rest is that it focuses on data based on students. This study is similar to the study by Keverline, S. A. (2003) because it focuses on a set group. It is different from that study because it is not as narrow but instead includes all genders and backgrounds. The methods used in this study is a convenience sample which was made up of criminal justice majors. A questionnaire was administered in order to gather statistics. The purpose of this study was to find out which careers are more attractive to the criminal justice major. What concluded from the study is that occupations such as law enforcement were rated to be more exciting. This study is relevant because it allows someone who is thinking about choosing criminal justice as a major to get the opinions of actual students. This book is distinguishable because it highlights important terminology a potential criminal justice major may face. There are similarities between this book and the online book by S., Hess, K. M., & Harr, J. S. 2009; Johnston, C. H. (2014) due to the way it is written because it sets up a theme of preparation. When paired together, the terminology of this book allows some one to be prepared for knowledge exams. It is also similar to the online book by Johnston, C. H. (2014) because both place an emphasis on scenarios which tie into the realities a one will face. For instance, this source talks about the types of crimes and the procedure on how to make an arrest. All this information is necessary to get a glimpse what one might face in the real world. The methods used in this source can be divided into three distinct sections. The first section talks about court terminology, the second section discusses the types of crimes which can lead to an arrest, and the third section talks about the correctional aspect of criminal justice. All three sections are identifiable as the core practical aspects of criminal justice. This source is helpfully because it allows someone who may not know much of criminal justice to get familiarized with what the type of crimes they will encounter if they choose to go that route.
