The first critic was on the separation of Singapore from Malaysia. Malaysia’s first Prime Minister accused him that he led a state government and that Singapore is not loyal. This was because Lee Kuan Yew believed that Singapore, primarily dominated by the Chinese would always be at the disadvantage if it is under a Malay majority country.
The second critic towards Lee Kuan Yew was when he made English as the main language in Singapore. He strongly believed that mastering of English is a must for Singapore to facilitate international trading. The Chinese society in Singapore criticized Lee that he stifled Chinese culture. However, he had also made Chinese language as the mother tongue where students are able to learn the language from school.

His wife was one of the best lawyers in Singapore and was his best assistant in helping him to achieve political success.
Both Lee Kuan Yew and his son were accused of corruption. Lee Kuan Yew sued the financial and economic media who spread the rumors to the public. Many doubted Lee Hsien Loong’s capability of becoming the Prime Minister of Singapore. Nevertheless, the media who made and spread the rumours made an apology after this issue

He wanted to transform Singapore, a country that lacks natural resources to one of the wealthiest and safest countries in the world. He once said, “I have spent my life so much of it, building up this country. There’s nothing more I need to do. At the end of the day, what have I got? A successful Singapore. What have I given up? My life.”
9 August 2015 marks Singapore’s 50 years of independence (SG50). The whole nation celebrated the independence with solemn tribute paid to Singapore’s founding father Lee Kuan Yew at the National Day Parade 2015. The usual seat for Mr. Lee was left vacant with orchids adorned the empty seat; the national flower of Singapore in honour of him.
Mr. Lee Kuan Yew’s efforts were acknowledged by the people around the world. He had managed to transform Singapore from a poor and weak country to a rich and strong country. He brought in lots of changes to Singapore. Singapore has changed and has a strong economy under his leadership. Although he is no longer with us, he will remain in the hearts of Singapore citizens and all the people around the world. TIMELINE
