In conclusion, these two weeks were, in some days, difficult because changing your learned behavior, the way you are used to living your life is difficult. A simple restriction to one thing that you are used to eating almost every day, caused me on some days anxiety because I wanted to eat what I was not supposed to eat, but your brain tells you otherwise. I had to question my thoughts that would tell me “just do it no one will know.” I remembered the advice from the book “You & Your Thoughts” that tells you to look at your thoughts and analyze them. I can imagine how it is for the people who are addicts, who have used substances for many years (learned behavior), and who go through their lives fighting this learned behavior and these thoughts and feelings; in addition to the peer-pressure from the so called “friends.” As we discussed in class social pressure is one of the reasons why people relapses, besides unpleasant …show more content…
In my case, I never made a plan in an event that I was tempted to eat what I was not supposed too. I believe this is the reason that lead me to laps the times that I did. Rehearsing what to do when you are confronted with a temptation, can assist you to developed coping skills that later can help you to react in a way that you can overcome the temptations. This experiment open my eyes to how difficult it is to overcome an addiction. People who have an addiction is difficult for them to find something that replaces the feeling they undergo when they use the substance of their choice when they are abstaining from using them. I was abstaining from eating eggs, one item of food that I can replace with another and have the same feeling of being full, and that was difficult for me; know I can imagine doing that for the rest of your life and not having that feeling that you enjoy ever again, I can understand how difficult it is to stay
