Bravery and maturity are some characteristics ascribed to Tim Meeker from the book My Brother Sam is Dead, by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier. Tim Meeker had to grow up faster than he would have needed to if the war had not appeared into his life. He had always looked up to his brother Sam, though he wasn't a good example for Tim. Tim had many responsibilities to fulfill and he acted maturely and knew how to handle hard situations. Sam goes to war, and their father dies, so Tim had to do his chores and help his mother with others that Sam and their father used to do.…
The main argument expressed in the article “Greg Ousley Is Sorry For Killing His Parent. Is that enough” is that Greg might be sorry that he killed his parents. Was it an accident or was it plan, it was plan because he really hated his parents. His mother didn't help him with his problem. She just said that it's the tv causing the problem.…
In the novel, A Lesson Before Dying, by Ernest J. Gaines, the protagonist, Jefferson discovers that his exile was both alienating and enriching. He is constantly discriminated and does not feel welcome to the society. Throughout the majority of the novel, Jefferson believes he is his own stereotype and takes it to heart when he is being called a hog. Although he knows he will be exiled, Jefferson and his family hopes for a change in his heart. Gaines’ treatment of Jefferson’s evolving character relates to the overall meaning of the novel showing that racial slurs and stereotypes can change someone when used against them…
The book Killing Mr. Griffin, is indeed a good book in general. There are so many conflicts in the novel, but one conflict is the main conflict. The main conflict is Man vs Society.…
It is possible for two young boys from the same world to be so different but similar at the same time. Both of the boys are greasers but not all greasers are the same which makes them similar in some ways but very different in other ways. A way that Johnny and Dally are similar is how they both have parents who don't care about them, another way that Johnny and Dally are similar is how they both give little value to their lives. A way Johnny and Dally are different is how Dally is tough and hard and Johnny is kind. Another way Johnny and Dally are different is how Daly likes fights and rumbles and Johnny does not like that because he believes nothing good comes out of fights.…

This war-related novel has little graphic violence to it. The death of Kid Sampson is probably the worst depiction of violence in the novel. Sampson ends up getting cut in half by the propellers of McWatt´s plane while the other men sit and relax on the beach and watch. The death is a completely unthinkable image for many readers because of how gruesome and horrific image but Heller does not give it any more importance than other events.…
I had John Bender “The Criminal” and his personality is the stereotypical “bad boy” or rebel in movies. In the film he always in shown alone as he arrives and leaves alone. He dislikes anyone who thinks that they have it better than him and he is very mean to everyone towards the beginning of the film. Specifically he hates “The princess” for having her dad’s money, he hates “the nerd” for having what he thinks is a perfect life at home, he hates “The Jock” because he is always looked at positively, and he hates “The basket case” because she is just a little bit weird. He has a very short temper, does drugs, and is very critical of others and points out every flaw in them.…
I know it was painful for them to leave everything they had always known behind, it was tough for us too, but I was 10 and my sister 14 we were kids, the impact of such a decision didn’t hit us until…
All My Sons by Arthur Miller has been argued by many to be a modern tragedy while others claim that his play, All My Sons, cannot be considered a tragedy. However, to truly debate if Miller was able to created a modern tragedy, one must first know what a tragedy is. “Tragedy”, as first coined by Aristotle, a famous Greek philosopher, is defined as a play that portrays the fall of a good character because of a catastrophic mistake by the protagonist. A true tragedy must also evoke pity and fear in the audience which is called catharsis. A tragedy incorporates a tragic hero which must be the protagonist who is neither entirely good nor pure evil and this tragic hero or protagonist must be consistent and realistic as to relate to the audience.…
