Johnny R Cash was born on February 26, 1932, in Kingsland, Arkansas. Or mainly known as “The Man In Black”. Johnny Cash was very famous for what he loved to do. Growing up for the Cash’s wasn’t very easy. However, his mother kept their spirits high with her singing. J.R. got his talent from being around his musical family. Many times his mother and sister sung in the cotton fields to pass the time. Being one of seven sibling’s, at the age of three him and his family moved to Dyess, Arkansas. There, his father farmed 20 acres of cotton. At the young age of 12 Cash learned how to play the guitar and learned very quickly, in just three lessons. Cash spent 300 nights on the road out of the year. In 1963 Cash released another big hit “Ring Of Fire”. Then “Understand Your Man” in 1964. Cash also appeared regularly on the Louisiana Hayride and Grand Ole Opry radio broadcasts. By this time in his career, the lifestyle had done started to take a toll on him. Cash turned to alcohol and drugs to ease from being away from his family all the time along with being on the road so much. A year later Cash & Carter became new weds. June was the high light of Cash’s life. Not only did she sing with him on the stage but she helped him get off drugs and stop drinking as well as Cash becoming a devout Christian fundamentalist. In 1969, Cash began hosting The Johnny Cash Show, a TV variety series that showcased contemporary musicians including his wife. The same year his show debuted, Cash also took home two Grammy Awards for the live album Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison. The album was a success and reached Gold record status by December 1969.
