Garth Brooks always said “just keep taking chances and have fun” which is how he built and lived his music career. Through Books many trials and tribulations as a country music artist, his personal and musical mistakes and accomplishments have made him the acclaimed musician he is today that has influenced many current country artists. He has worked amazingly hard to succeed in the music world. He is especially proud of all the awards he has received over the years. Brooks truly loves entertaining people. Brooks became interested in music when he was young. He became a performer because of his mother Coleen Brooks. He wanted to keep the tradition going by singing because he cherished the moments Coleen and him shared by singing with each other. Brooks was influenced by many different styles of music growing up. His parent’s favorite choice was country, but Brooks liked all styles. He was one of those teenagers who hung rock posters on his wall and went to Queen Concerts, but also enjoyed country …show more content…
One of his albums called Ropin in the Wind was the first country album to get on the Billboard magazine charts as number 1. All of Brooks albums defined country music in the 1990s (ABC-CLIO 2014). He went on to release many albums in the 1990’s. We Shall Be Free in 1900, The Chase was released in 1992, 1993 In Pieces was released, and in 1997 Sevens was released (Carlin 2006). “Much To Young (To Feel This Damn Old)” made the top 40 after being released on the radio, but quickly began to wane. Brooks recorded “Friends in Low Places” with his friends so he could make it a fun song for capitol records. One of Brooks hit songs “American Honky-Tonk Bar Association” was not a favorite of the reviewers, they thought that calling it “American Honky- Tonk Bar Association” was the worst mistake ever.
