In the Article “Jesus is A Brand of Jeans”, Jean Kilbourne talks about how advertisements encourage people to buy their products, but in order to do this people use tactics that can be bad because of the way that they try to get people to buy these products. When they advertise these products they usually try to make the product look more important than actual people, or the people who advertise the product try to make everyone think that we need the product for us to be happy. The most dangerous part about advertisements is that they can flourish addictions because the company will try to get us to try that product even if it can harm many people and they won't show people what has happened to the many people that have suffered from their product.
When Companies try and get people to use their product or in some cases keep using their product, the company will try to get a specific age group to use their products by having people in that specific age group be in that ad so people that age will be able to relate to it even though the product may be harmful, Marlboro has people within the ages of 18-21 be in the ad where people are enjoying themselves by doing many things some include doing something that you never thought would be possible, and being with an intimate other. In Marlboros ad there are two young adults who are having an intimate relationship and next to them the ad says “Maybe never fell in love”. Marlboro uses this to try and get to the head of the young adults who want or have an intimate relationship with someone. The Chapa 2 company Marlboro who made this ad knew how to target the people so they can convince them to buy their product. Smoking is an easy thing to get addicted to and because young people are smoking cigarettes and because of this the people try it and after that they begin to smoke cigarettes more often. After smoking another thing that people advertise that can cause harm not to just us but others around us is alcohol. In advertisements companies that sell alcohol usually focus on young adults because it is easier to influence them because of the way young adults are, or they have dos equis which is a brand of beer and in the commercials, they have “the most interesting man in the world” and in these commercials, they show a man who does amazing things and after it shows the things he has done. The reason that they it is easier to get people who have just hit the age of 21 to drink alcohol is because they want to explore new things, because of this it is easier to draw younger people in, and at a young age it is easier to get addicted to a certain substance. Therefore, companies target young adults and people who are already using the substance that they are advertising, because of this the people who use this substance will continue to use it, not just because of its addictive features but the ads help influence these addictions. A major addiction that is global is video games, the reason that this is an easy addiction to obtain is because every month there are more improvements and since it is not a drug, people do not see it as a bad thing.

The reason that it is easy for gaming companies to profit from this is because the companies can target all age groups. Video games can range from games for toddlers to adults 18 or older, the reason this is a bad addiction is because it causes people to become anti-social because the person would prefer to stay in their house and play video games than interact with people in life. The people who advertise these games can make any game look like the most action-packed game that you Chapa 3 have ever seen and because of this the company can persuade the person watching the ad to get the game because of the details that is included in the advertisement.
