As a shy eleven-year-old who had never switched schools before, I anxiously walked through the doors of Wearwood Elementary School. I had spent the night prior wondering what this move would intel. Would I make friends? Would the teachers like me? Soon these worries became no more. Having moved from a larger school, I found a community at Wearwood that I had never noticed in a school setting before. Wearwood Elementary School is a place where every person knows each other and every child’s education is important. The community I found at Wearwood Elementary School has positively shaped me into the person I am today. The small setting found at Wearwood Elementary School made it possible to have a close relationship with each of my teachers. …show more content…
One of the best memories I have from my time spent at Wearwood was helping create a campaign for the State and National Junior Beta Club conventions. I suggested the campaign theme that was chosen, wrote song lyrics, helped create choreography and costumes, and campaigned for our candidate at both conventions. The hard work that other club members and I put into the campaign made it possible for a small elementary school to have a state officer for the Junior Beta Club. This taught me that no matter where someone comes from they can achieve greatness through hard work. Knowing that my voice and ideas helped our candidate win the election helped boost my confidence and self-worth. Our clubs hard work has made a lasting impact on my life. Wearwood Elementary school will always have a special place in my heart, and I could not have had a better middle school experience. My time spent at Wearwood has made a lasting positive impact on my life and education. I would not be who I am today without being the influence of the administration, teachers, and students of Wearwood Elementary

My time at Barnegat High School has helped me to become who I am today and will most defiantly impact what I will do in the future. The teachers and my peers have all been an influence on my life and during the four years that I spent at the school, I have done some things for the school and the community as a way to thank them for giving me the opportunities that they have. It was they who pushed me to keep trying and striding to succeed and without them, I would not have accomplished what I have today. One of the things that I am most proud of doing is helping to bring new clubs and activities to Barnegat High School. This year, with the help of other students and advisors, a new club made it into the ranks of the diverse sea of clubs and groups that already exist.…

I was afraid to sharpen a pencil in second grade. My most vivid elementary school memories spring from instances when I was being reprimanded by an adult for doing something wrong. I did everything in my power to avoid those dreadful moments, but they still presented themselves on occasion. Even now I feel a pit in my stomach when I recall the way I felt during those times, regardless of the fact that almost all of them would easily roll off my back if they occurred today.…

Walking into Kekionga Middle School I noticed a lot of differences from schools that I had visited previously. The most visible one being the school’s population and location. I had never observed at an urban school and have never felt such a cultural difference between me and the students. With a school population that was so diverse and not within the same background as I was, I immediately started thinking about my future teaching career and what I would do in that kind of atmosphere. I later on asked Mrs. Parker why she chose this school and said that it was because she went to Fort Wayne Community Schools all of her life, so she did not feel change at all.…

Ornstein and Hunkins (2013) informs us that, “the kind of education our young receive determines the extent of freedom and equality within society; [and that] school is a vital institution ‘for helping the young acquire systematic knowledge,’ inculcating them with the proper attitudes and values, and ‘bonding the gap between generations’” (p. 128). At Clement Middle School, students work in cooperative groups to develop communication skills, self–confidence, and tolerance for people that are different; and learn to accept different…

For the first two years of my highschool career I had done very little with the school. I occasionally volunteered for the spirit week events, such as building a homecoming float. However, at the end of my sophomore year I realized that I could be involved with much more. With this in mind, I decided to run for class president and somehow I had won the election. As a result of this, I began to get more involved with the school.…

“Education is the most powerful weapon in which you can use to change the world” is a quote from Nelson Mandela. It had been a few weeks since your parents died in a tragic plane crash, though you didn’t feel all that sad. Of course, you were slightly upset, but it wasn’t that bad. Your parents had never really built an emotional bond with you. They were more like dictators, they forced you to be the three P’s: posh, proper, and polite. When you wanted to play outside with the other kids, they shook their head in distaste, your mother telling you that’s not what ladies do.…

Field Experience Journal 3 TAPR I decided for my first observation assignments and journals that I would attend Magnolia Elementary. After all, Magnolia is where I transferred at the beginning of the second grade and stayed for the next four years even though I was terrified of a new school. Reading the TAPR report gave me great insights to my old school. Magnolia Elementary School has a ninety-five point seven percent attendance rate and the students’ performance “met standard” with an academic achievement in the Reading / English Language Arts department.…

As I looked around at my new classmates on my first day of public school, I was in complete shock. All around me I saw students who did not care in the slightest about their education and who saw school as simply a chore instead of an adventure. They slumped down in their chairs, cheated off of each other left and right, rolled their eyes at teachers, and spent each day watching the clock, waiting for the bell to ring that would released from their “prison.” That August morning, I felt like I was in a completely different world: one where I did not belong.…
