A well-rounded student shows integrity, service, and growth in their academic lives, as well as their personal lives. I believe that I exemplify integrity personally and academically. When I think of my own personal integrity, I consider how my parents would want me to portray myself. The way I show integrity personally is just by being real. I don’t like lying, being two-faced, or ignoring people. I try my best to be friendly and include everyone, for that is how I want to be treated! On the other hand, I show integrity academically through perseverance in my studies. I believe that cheating can only hurt you, in knowledge and in heart. As a young teen, I was not very involved in service or my community. I felt like service was a waste of time! However, joining my high school Key Club changed my entire perspective. The more service I did, the more I wanted to do! I started each potential service project as, “How can I help?” rather than turning away. Part of my service transformation is what led me to go on a mission trip to New Mexico, to help the Navajo community there. My team and I painted a house, dug a ditch, and landscaped several homes while we were there. Those five days of service were a blessing to me. Through my integrity and service incorporated into my personal and academic lives, I have grown to be a well-rounded student. Learning is a passion, and that has made me the person that I am today. However, I used to not think like this. As a child through my teenage years, I did not try in school. I just did not have the desire.
