Human Resource Management Practices in Turkey Human resource management (HRM) has been getting important in Turkey after 1980s. Turkey has great young population, which allows switching new concepts easily in a short span of time. The economy depended on agricultural products in the earlier stages of Turkey. Nowadays, agricultural products in Turkey are getting reduced day by day. On the other hand, service sector has grown approximately three times bigger than agricultural decreasing. Having this kind of dramatic change from an agricultural product based economy to service based economy Turkish economy has started to give more importance to person rather than products. In addition to that Turkey is very crowded and 16th very industrialized country of the world. Turkey has affected plenty of major changes that gained different positive consequences for Turkish economy. Most of companies in Turkey were founded after 1980. Turkey has seen a growing rate of foreign investment and international trade. Having mutual effect with foreign companies, Turkish organizations got the chance to take know-how on management. These kinds of changes also made contribution to human resource management in Turkey. Following current trends in HRM field is one of the biggest challenges while creating efficient systems. Moreover, most human resource personal do no know necessary information and still there is no enough study report to lead HRM practices. Turkey has to find the balance between local and global. Having different economic, social, cultural and political features can cause a real problem while trying to follow North American human resource management trends. This tells that people have to strike a happy medium between cultural realities and conduct adaptation more carefully. Many companies in Turkey have unfavorable manner about to using scientific knowledge. Also, they think that all these researches take considerable time and cost plenty of money for the organizations. ınstead of using this method they choose to use the consultant services. Approximately there are one thousand human resource management consulting companies in Turkey while the country has only six human resource management graduate programs and just has eight instructors, which are researching, in the HRM field. In conclusion, human resource management is a improving filed in Turkey and it needs lots of qualified workers.
