Immigrants run from their countries of origin for several reasons. The United States first experienced major waves of immigration in the 19th century. Many immigrants came to America seeking greater economic opportunities, where they could get a better job to better support their families. But millions are now running away for that reason,and to gain religious freedom that they don´t have in their home country. Since the 19th century, millions are trying to escape different types of persecution. Whether it was religious, political, or social, they have their families to keep in mind, and sometimes moving to another country gives their children the best quality of life as well as better opportunities. It’s wonderful to be granted freedom, but I feel as if it’s something we shouldn’t have to fight for it based on our religion and beliefs. Freedom of choice and speech should just be a given. It’s sad that people have to try to escape their country to be able to be granted freedom. And to be able to gain that freedom there are many risks due to how you go about gaining it. Going about becoming a real citizen in America takes a long time, but it cuts down a big chunk of problems that could arise if you come in illegally. To become a real citizen you need to earn a green card, which is proof that you’re an american citizen and have been officially granted immigration benefits, including permission to reside and take employment in the United States. I think that green cards are a good way to prove your citizenship but the process can be long and expensive. While some make the decision to come here the right way, some come in the illegal way. And when you come this country against the law, you have a high chance of being deported. There is said to be 11 million undocumented immigrants in America, and now with Trump in office and the executive order
