How Nashoba Technology Changed My Life

Improved Essays
I can still clearly remember my freshmen orientation. The mixture of anxiety and excitement had my heart pound against my chest like a drum, and my hands were cold and clammy. I was absolutely petrified of getting lost and not knowing anybody in my classes. If I could go back and reassure myself that everything would be fine, I definitely would. Now that I have the opportunity to become a mentor, I can help these freshmen the way that I wish I could go back and help myself.

I chose to come to Nashoba Tech because, I needed a change. In Chelmsford, being surrounded by the same people everyday was becoming boring. The idea of other kids from different towns all going to the same school was so exciting to me. I couldn’t wait to have a fresh start, where nobody knew anything about me. I also wanted to make new friends. The other reason I decided to go to Nashoba was to explore all of the different shops. I was petrified of being judged by all these people who didn’t know

Dear Carolyn Boles Scholarship Committee, I have had a great first semester in college full of learning and meeting new people. I studied extremely hard the entire semester and was determined to get the best grades possible. My favorite class was psychology and I received a very good grade in the class, so I was asked to become a mentor for the class next school year. I also decided to work toward receiving a minor in health psychology because I loved the class so much. In another one of my classes, we learned about different health field careers in order to decide if nursing was right for us since it is such a competitive major at IUPUI.…

For the past year, I could only provide an indefinite answer to a frequently asked question, How was your freshman year? In fact, those of us who experienced our freshman year could be addressed as “college veterans” will never initiate a conversation with regard to the past year. However, it is like that with many other students because making a transition is frightening and many of us find a way to run away from it. Everything in life is a challenge and it is scary as well, but for those who want to study it all starts of with college. It took me more than words to actually realize the reality that I am actually living right at this very moment because, I was not expecting so many things to fall apart, but somehow becoming whole again.…
