Even though Mrs. Dubose was in a fatal medical condition she decided to overcome her morphine addiction anyway. “She said she was going to leave this world be holden to nothing and nobody.” Referring to her morphine addiction she shows her moral stability is strong enough to gamble a hopeful outcome overcoming her addiction. It was courageous and extraordinary for a woman of terrible condition to make such a self righteous decision. Mrs. Dubose also fought a hard battle but never gave up. “Her head moved slowly from side to side.
