How Does Lee Show Courage In To Kill A Mockingbird

We all need to understand what courage really is. What is the real meaning of courage? How can we understand it better ourselves? Well, in To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee she shows courage through her book. Lee actually defines courage with her characters. She has them test their courage throughout the book. Lee also tells us how they feel with other characters. Some of the characters that show courage are Scout Finch, Jem Finch, and Dill Harris. They mainly show their courage with or at the Radley’s. It was the summer before Scout started school when Dill came and he was something else. Dill was fascinated with the Radley’s place and thought it would be a good idea to try and get Boo Radley to come out. Scout and Jem tried to tell Dill that he was crazy and that nobody went over there except the Radley’s themselves. There were rumors about Boo and in the text it states that “ When people’s azaleas froze in a cold snap, it was because he had breathed on them.” (page 10) That a weird rumor to say about somebody, but its saying that he, Boo, is the one that did it. It was one summer night that they thought they would go see Boo. The kids were at Dill’s aunt's house and that night playing a game. When it got dark they went over by the schoolyard and crossed the fence over to the Radley’s place. When they crept up to the house oh so carefully they were too short and had to boost Dill up too see in the window at the house. When that didn’t work Jem went up on the porch to try and see. Scout and Dill were waiting on Jem when they heard a noise and saw a shadow. When it went away the kids ran back to the fence as fast as they could. What they didn’t realize was that Jem was stuck in the fence, so he took his pants off and started running back to miss Rachaels house. They got there just in time
