Around the United States peaceful resistance to laws is happening every day and it’s having a positive impact on free society. From Rosa Parks to Thomas Jefferson they took a stand for what they believed in, and changed America for the better. Taking part in peaceful resistance can change the future for the better and improve our society as a whole, all it takes is one person who is willing to accept the consequences for opposing a law they think is unjust or unfair in our society. Currently in the United States peaceful resistance is happening right now, the students at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, are taking a stand against recent police shootings of black men. The students said that they were “full of rage” and chanted “no justice, no peace!” and “black lives matter!” at the Rock Hill peaceful protest, …show more content…
Some people say that civil disobedience and peaceful resistance keeps an unjust government in check and gives power to the people and students, this shows how peaceful resistance positively impacts our free society. This is saying how if a law or public policy is unfair we have the right to stand up and take a speak up against it to change our public policy to a fair environment, and that has such a positive impact on the free society that we live in today. This not only makes our society better, it teaches our future generations to take a stand for what they believe in so maybe one day they too can change America. Showing our future generations that citizens and students do not need violence to make our voices heard and we can have change through peace. Having the right to take part in peaceful resistance not only makes America a better place but it impacts our free society in a positive way, and can help us better the future and improve our society as a whole, not only for us but for the future of our
