How Did Beecher Prep Change Auggie's Life

Auggie’s experience at Beecher Prep had a positive impact on his life. It transformed him into a very confident boy. It taught him to embrace his deformity and not care what other people think about him. He made great friends and had great teachers, but there was one person affecting his whole experience. Julian. Other than Julian, Auggie had a great time at Beecher Prep and it definitely changed his life forever. One of the positive examples was the fact that Auggie made good friends. He became great friends with Summer and Jack Will. They stood up for him when Julian or other people were being mean to Auggie. Whenever Julian asked Auggie if he was in a fire, Jack Will said, “Geez, Julian, just shut up.” (page 29) Summer was a very nice girl. She sat with Auggie at lunch on the first day of school. In the beginning, he was scared to go to school and didn’t want to be around people. In the end, though, he was very loving to everyone and ended up graduating 5th grade with all of his friends. After Auggie went on the “Grand Tour” before he started school, he wasn’t very happy. On page 33, the story says, “The moment we got inside the house, I ran to my room and threw myself onto my bed.” this shows that he didn’t want to be around his family or talk about the tour, because he didn’t enjoy it. In the end though, Auggie is very confident around his friends and loves spending time with them. His whole grade goes on a “Nature Retreat” and he loves going on this trip. Whenever Auggie returned home, he couldn’t wait to tell his family all about his trip. “‘So, do you want to hear about the bad part or the good part first?’ I asked after a few minutes, leaning my head on my hand.” (page 277) shows that Auggie now was confident talking to his parents about the good and bad things about the trip, and was so excited to tell them
