I will ask toddlers some questions to encourage them to communicate verbally, such as “Do you know what fruit is this?”
Praise toddlers who listen attentively and does not interrupt the story by saying “Very good listening.”
When we finish reading this book, ask toddler about what books they want to read and read the books to them. When I showed the toddler the cover of the picture book and let them guess what was the story about, they made sounds and wanted to turn the page for me. I turned to the first page, which showed many fruit on it. I taught toddlers to identify the different fruits on the page. Some toddlers were very excited to see the animals on the page so they used their fingers to point to the animals on the page. Overall, this activity was successful.
The first objective was achieved as Arlo and other toddlers answered my questions by making sounds. The second objective was achieved as they showed their curiosity, confidence and enthusiasm by listening to the story carefully.
I will read this book with toddlers during group time again as a follow-up activity to support toddlers’ language …show more content…
