Is the laws that protect kids from bullying doing its job? The government anti-bullying laws are not protecting kids from bullies. The laws put into place are not protecting the students of schools. As a result kids are bullied and are harmed from it. The anti-bullying strategies used by schools are unsuccessful because kids are still being bullied. Although it is true that all fifty states have anti-bullying laws put into place in every public school, more and more kids are being effected by bullying every day.
The laws that are supposed to prevent bullying are losing, because more than 246 million young people deal with it every year. Studies show that the world has a serious bullying problem with more than millions in just the United States …show more content…
Every state in America has some kind of anti-bullying law that is supposed to prevent and punishes kids from bullying (Howard). This says that no one is being bullied because of these government facts when in reality there are so many affected. This is important to know that all the schools have anti-bullying laws. The evidence proves that just having laws does not make the problem go away. This shows that the strategies used by schools are not successful. Furthermore in other schools they say, "Our kids know that if anything happens to anybody, we will act upon it. We will pull security footage if we have to buy everybody here needs to be soft" (Wallace). This supports the laws in the schools are successful in keeping everyone from harm including bullying. This is important to know that the teachers are helping afterwards, but they're not preventing bullying. Again it shows that schools are helping after the situation, but not before it happens. Finally it shows that even though schools have security it does not means they can prevent bullying. In the same way all states have anti-bullying laws and teachers that are readily available to help out a victim (Howard). In the state of Delaware, schools from around the state are being hurt by bullying (Schwartz). With more and more people being affected by bullying, the anti-bullying needs to be fixed. This shows that bullying is a big problem. Also it shows that the schools are not doing enough to protect students from bullying. With this in mind, "It could just be that you are bullied by other kids when you start and over time" (Schwartz). This shows that the laws are not keeping up with the easy targets for bullies. The law needs to be redone to better help more students and prevent bullying. This evidence is important to find out that kids are easier targets then others. This means that the laws are not preventing the bullies from bullying others. Additionally, most kids don't recover from bullying, and are more likely to get bullied by other later on (Schwartz). The sentence supports that more people are being bullied. To prevent this we need to stop the bullying by preventing it the best way we can, and that is to punish the bullies more.
