Gerald Faust struggles throughout his whole life thinking he is the one in his family that is crazy. Gerald realizes that he is not the crazy one in his family it is someone else. With the knowledge that Gerald gains he can then move on with his life, he may suffer some consequences but overall he comes out on top.
At the beginning of the novel Gerald truly believes he is the crazy one with anger issues in his family because of his past on the nanny television show. Gerald learns through his journey in the book that he does not have anger issues. Gerald realizes that his sister Tasha is a psychopath and the one with problems in the family.
