“Gastro” is a term that means stomach, while “Paresis” means weakness. Gastroparesis commonly referred as gastric emptying is a digestive disorder in which the food movement from the stomach to small intestine slows down or gets abnormal. In order to move food from the stomach to small intestine the stomach contracts. The stomach muscles are regulated by the vagus nerves. In order to break down food and movement food over gastrointestinal tract, the stomach muscle controlled by vagus nerve contracts. The digestion of food is mainly controlled by the muscle movement combined with the enzymes and hormones.
