In 1948, the Shelley vs Kraemer case took place. A black person bought a house in a community of white people, however the most of the white community had signed a petition saying that they didn't want any black people living in the community. The Supreme Court of Appeals state wanted to "preserve the racial integrity". This law affected everyone. This showed discrimination on people based on their skin color and therefore punished not only black people, but also white people. A white person could be in love with a black person and this prevent them from getting married, affecting both races.
The Swann v. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education is another example of racism. In 1971, The Supreme Court of the United States made an attempt to desegregate schools. Their plan stated that, "...desegregation plan was an effective and reasonable attempt to desegregate public schools in its district." This allowed a black person to be able to get the same education as a white person.
