Board of education is a very popular and important case. This case solves the problem of "separate but equal". Separate but equal no longer had a place. Segregation of schools was a critical issue. The 14th amendment was also used to defend this case. This case is similar to Plessy vs. Ferguson, but happened 60 years after. Plessy vs. Ferguson is a case also dealing with segregation where blacks were able to be served in separate but equal accommodations. For example, the blacks were able to ride the back of the bus, go to the "black only" restroom and drink from the "black only" water fountain. This is judgment against the black. If there was any black that touched or entered anything of the whites then they were to be harassed and that experience was never good.
Lastly is the case of Loving vs. Virginia. This is a case discussing how the court struck down the state laws and would not allow interracial marriage. Both the white and the black person got punished for this because the could not only punish one. This case as well leads back to the 14th amendment. Summing up this case, the court says that marriage is allowed, as long as it's not interracial marriage.
Many helpful decisions have been made through the Supreme Court for different situations such as: Shelley vs. Kraemer, Brown vs. Board of Education, Loving vs. Virginia. Each of these cases have different meanings and are different in ways. All though they all lead to the same amendment; the fourteenth.
