She first tells the reader that she really does not adore him the way others do when she says, "I pretended to swoon at the mention of his name so I would fit in" (Paragraph 1). Since Simon is not genuine with her obsession over Frankie, like the others, she is not included in any their cliques. The way the others obsess over him could be described by the way Simon's father says it, "drooling, moronic, autograph-hunting sheep" (Paragraph 1). When Simon says that she secretly does not adore him, she begins to question whether or not she will ever be considered as part of the cliques. Sadly, when she got there she found out that tickets were sold out; however, she goes on to say "I had planned for this possibility and I ducked around to the stage door entrance and knocked" (Paragraph 4). This is when she gets to interview the wonderful Frankie using her fake reporter identity. During the interview she momentarily becomes mesmerized by Frankie as he puts a piece of gum into his mouth.
