Everyone has experienced some sort of atrocious pain in their lives. At one point in my life I did not believe I will ever walk again. A troubling life changing event occurred when I was just fourteen years old. Every evil thought was occurring in my head all at once. “You won’t walk anymore”, “You won’t heal”, “Time can’t change this”, all thoughts that were going through my mind while being in a wheelchair.…

I guess I just put my head down and did what I had to. I’m not a particularly positive person, but I am incredibly persistent. I decided that I was going to be able to walk without a limp and that I was going to be able to compete at diving again and that was that. It took two years, three surgeries, weekly visits to the pain clinic and over a year of physical therapy, but damn it I did it.…

It was a bright sunny Saturday morning, waking up hearing the birds chirping outside. The sun was shining through the windows throughout the house. I can remember sitting in the living room in a tan recliner facing the Tv. When I heard the phone ring the first time, it was around ten o’clock in the morning; I looked over to see my mom running to the home phone that used to sit on the desk in the laundry room. It rang three times before my mom answered.…

Scraping your knee on the sidewalk, getting hit hard with the basketball, falling off the monkey bars, these are just a few examples of ways you can get hurt at school. The worst case scenario is you would end up going to the school nurse as a result of an accident. Before first grade, suffering an injury was way out of the norm for me.
