Over that past two millenniums, there has been much criticism and many arguments made about the historical significance of Jesus. In the book “The Jesus Controversy: Perspectives in Conflict” there are many new perspectives incorporated through three different authors eyes who each have their own views on Jesus’ role in history. The three professors who wrote this paramount book were Professors John Crossan, Luke Johnson, and Werner Kelber each of who teaches different religious programs at some of the top recognized college institutions. The preliminary writings throughout his book are broken down into three different areas exploring topics such as the historical, theological, and textual problems at core of this theological controversy. Interesting…

So, I think Jesus should be chosen as histories MVP. Can you think of one thing he has done that hasn’t had an impact on history? I don’t think so because I can’t. He has a whole book written over him and his teachings, it’s called “the…
I think of Jesus as someone who I can have a personal and close relationship with. Jesus is someone who I look up to, to decipher where and what to do in life. Jesus is a role model, someone who lived the perfect life. Van Biema’s article presents the idea that “Christians’ picture of Christ may be radically misguided” . This is a very bold statement for one to utter out of their mouth because Jesus Christ is a personal God, who one creates their own relationship with.…
I find myself fascinated listening to this man. I sit here amongst a crowd of hundreds of men, women, and children. We are all amazed at the knowledge that he speaks. The man changes his tone and compares himself the bread that fell from heaven and the water that came from the rock. The rabbi next to me is angrily talking to me as if I did something wrong.…
The conflict between the Christians and the Jesus Seminar has been an ongoing struggle since 1985. The Jesus Seminar, founded by Robert Funk, originated in 1985 as around 70 biblical scholars set out to determine the legitimacy of Jesus’ sayings (Dart). The Seminar focused on the historicity of Jesus using the best methods of science and literary criticism as it pertains to the Bible. Funk believed that the gospel writers had made Jesus into a “larger than life” figure in order to satisfy their religious desires. The Jesus Seminar’s goal is to rid the historical figure of Jesus from “Christian legend and myth” and to find out who Jesus really was and what he really said (Craig).…
The evidence, rather, which have been aided greatly through writing the story in full has been intentionally destroyed by the early church. According to the Biblical teaching, Jesus Christ was born in Nazareth and after that went his way to become a prophet and…
Timeline Events and Parallels 1.) Event number one is my birth, I was born in the U.A.E., on June 25 2001. The parallel in Jesus’s life is his birth in Bethlehem, which we celebrate on Christmas, which will be Dec. 25 2016 this liturgical year. As a symbol I drew a manger which is where Jesus was born. 2.)…
The books that I chose to read for this assignment were The Year of Living Biblically by A.J Jacobs, and The Autobiography of Malcolm X. I also chose to listen to “Letting Go of God” by Julia Sweeney. The two that I am choosing to focus on are The Year of Living Biblically and “Letting Go of God” because after reading and listening to them, I feel that there is a lot to compare and contrast and that I learned a lot in the differences in their two situations. I really enjoyed how both authors kept a little comedy in each of their stories. It kept it easy to listen to/read. If I were to listen to a woman talk about her transition to Atheism or a man’s year of living the bible literally, it would have been extremely boring.…
In 1906 Albert Schweitzer distributed his famous " The Quest of the Historical Jesus" a book so expansive in its effect that its distribution dates now marks the finish of the old quest. Taking after the earlier work of Johannes Weiss, Schweitzer contended unequivocally that the best possible context for understanding Jesus was Jewish apocalyptic eschatology. In this specific situation, Jesus shows up not simply as a (liberal) social reformer and teacher of love, yet as a final days devotee who intensely trusted that his own sufferings would assume a crucial part in the apocalyptic result of this world.…
For as long as it has existed, historians, philosphers, scientists, and everyone in between have questioned the credibility of the New Testament's account of the life of Jesus Christ. Athiests, agnostics, and Christians alike all doubt the feasability of the events depicted in the New Testament. 2In a world where science rules, it is unsurprising the events depicted in the Bible would be scoffed at by many, shrugged off as absurd. Others question how a book can last centuries in human hands without the story it tells being altered. 3Undoubtably, there is immense doubt as to the reliability of the Gospels, whether or not Jesus was in fact the son of God, and how it could be possibly for Jesus to have risen from the dead.…

In the first stage of the hero 's journey is the departure stage showing the humbleness of Jesus.…
Jesus Christ is without a doubt one of the most polarizing figures in history. His life and work have changed the course of the world and the fate of millions. Within his own time, Jesus was a controversial figure in the viewpoint of the Jews and the Romans. To the Jews he was a blasphemous heretic, To the Romans, he was a dangerous inciter of Judaic nationalism and rebellion. In the modern era, Jesus is hailed as the leading figure in Christianity and the role it took in history.…
He was an icon over 2000 years ago for the christian believers, and the rest of the world. Jesus Christ’s existence had a huge significance in our world that still effects us today. He was known as the “Son of God” and “The Messiah” in the Hebrew language meaning “the promised deliverer”. There is so much proof of his existence during that time, even non-believers have stated that Jesus was in fact a real man. Jesus came into our world in a specific manner which fulfilled the old testament’s prophecies.…
Jesus’ identity and purpose has been a great source of discussion and investigation through the years. Although many people do not seem to believe in the importance and legacy of His life, there are many profs and facts that show the meaning of His days physically living in our world. Jesus came to show us the correct way to live and direct our actions towards others. For example, in Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus speaks about loving one’s enemies. He mentions how important it is to love, bless and pray for those who curse, hate, use and persecute us (Matthew 5:44).…
