When it was still in operation, one of my favorite treats was to sit outside at Alice Waters' Cafe Fanny and eat beignets with jam while my mom drank Cafe Au Lait. Growing up in a food-centric place made Alice Waters and her farm-to-table movement common knowledge to me. I imagine myself sitting with Alice at Cafe Fanny asking questions about her life as an activist.
