“Dance is the hidden language of the soul of the body.” Martha Graham says. Dance and leadership go hand in hand. It brings people together, which is what I love about dance. It takes a lot to be an officer for the Black Diamonds, so why should I be recruited as one?
For years, my mom has choreographed and taught Bollywood dance to people. As a result of that, I have lots of experience in choreography, and in teaching it. I have helped my mom choreograph lots of dances, giving me the title of the ‘Assistant Choreographer’ for her private lessons. Also, I have leadership experience, first by teaching dances with my mom, and also being Section Leader in Choir, for 6th Grade Sopranos, leading into me being awarded a Leadership award, and Section Leader for the Varsity Altos spring semester of 7th Grade.

To be apart of the All Iowa Honor Dance Team is the greatest honor any high school dance team member in the state of Iowa can receive. The honor team is created of 250 girls that outshined the other 500 that auditioned for a spot on the floor. Nothing is more nerve racking than only being allowed two minutes to prove to a panel of judges, without a retry. It’s not a basketball game where a time out can be called and one can try the play again, and if the play fails and the game is lost, another game is right around the corner to try again. This is one chance, one shot that you can’t change.…

In middle school, I again held noteworthy positions in several S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, and math) organizations, National Junior Honor Society, and Leadership Academy. To this day I constantly rise to any opportunity to prove my leadership among my peers, and will implement this if held to an office position in National Honor Society.…
