Notch is a programmer who had created many games that allowed creativity and adventure. He was born in Stockholm, Sweden and started programming at the age of eight, with his sister’s help (Source 3). He was inspired to program when he got into a friendly coding competition at school at the age of thirteen (Source 3). He started working on Minecraft in 2009. Over his thirty-six years of programming, he has made several other works, such as RubyDung, which he had never released, and Dwarf Fortress. Minecraft is still an ongoing game that updates every Friday, adding new features to the game. “The sky’s the limit,” he always says. And it’s true. Notch isn’t one of those businesspeople who care about the money. He is just a man who wants to do his work. He stopped working on Minecraft in 2011 to do other projects, like 0x10c. Here is an introduction to Notch and Minecraft. Notch created a game called Minecraft, a sandbox game which allowed players to create their own amazing structures in a virtual world using little textured blocks. The gamer chooses a character, which allows you to jump, punch, run, walk and interact, and then they can get going! There are four modes. You can either go into Creative mode, where you have a full inventory of items that you can use to build, or you can go into Survival mode, where you must survive by gathering information and materials. You can explore villages, caves and dungeons, or you make a portal to the Nether or find a stronghold and slay the Ender Dragon. Depending on your level of experience, but it is worth trying. There is also a Spectator mode and an Adventure mode. Spectator mode is where you can watch everyone do what they are doing, whether they are crafting, or just eating steak, while invisible, and Adventure mode is when you cannot destroy any blocks directly, but can craft items and interact with mobs and players (Source 4). You may also build a house. It could be a luxurious mansion, to a humble shelter or a secure fortress, but every night, you go back into your creation before the monsters of the world get you (Source 2). In Minecraft, there are endless possibilities. Your Imagination is the limit. How did Notch innovate? There were a few survival-based games out there, but not many are exciting. Notch made a game that improved the ideas of what a survival game is like. He created one that advanced technology’s capabilities. Unlike in other games such as SimCity, you can only put down little pre-made buildings, but in Minecraft, you can build the structure yourself. “The sky’s the limit,” Notch always says, which is technically true, because the sky is 200 blocks tall and you can’t build anything higher than that. Minecraft offers more freedom than other games. You can do things most games can’t like building structures that defy gravity, or jump off a mountain and fly with Elytra Wings, an item that can allow you to fly when you jump at a high altitude. Notch illuminated the world by creating a game that is …show more content…
It also encourages children and adults to interact with each other online and work together. Computer companies believe that people like Minecraft just because it’s fun, so they would buy it to become more well-known and popular. But the amount of time people spend online together is priceless (Source 1). One day, people might think, “Hmm, Notch did something great and inspiring, so maybe I can do it, too.” Notch probably put a lot of thought into making Minecraft, how he didn’t finish Alpha stage until 2010. At this thought, Notch has inspired people to create, innovate and illuminate with their own magnificent creations. With this game, Notch has inspired everyone, young and old alike, with his extraordinary creations. When Notch creates games, he puts a lot of thought into making it. That’s what makes his games unique. Notch is just a man who likes to program for fun, not to make money, but to create games that he is positive everyone will
