“The Maze Runner” is a teen dystopia set in the aftermath of civilization’s demise. Thomas, our main character, wakes up in an elevator with no recollection of his name or his past; trapped in an expansive maze guarded by bio-mechanical beasts called Grievers. He is tossed in with sixty other boys his age, with whom he must find a way out. Their civilization resides in a small glade in the centre of this maze, where they survive solely off of their own agriculture and supplies. They select their strongest and fittest comrades to run the maze during the day, attempting to find a way out. It has been this way for years. Now it is up to Thomas to lead the way, through dangerous, twisted corridors shrouded with mystery, that hide grave dangers in their shadows.

While this film was not bad altogether, I did find myself in a love-hate relationship with it. Many critics may rant and rave about this film, but I find it

There were a select few parts truly worth watching in Maze Runner. In particular, the special effects and Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) used in the film are absolutely phenomenal. Perhaps they even make up for some of the areas that are lacking in Maze Runner. This is made apparent in the appearance of the Grievers and the ‘Maze’. The eerily lifelike Grievers send a chill down your spine whenever they appear. These bio-mechanical freaks of nature are sputtering, slavering, screeching fiends that, when brought to life on screen, make you fear for your own life just witnessing their presence. The movements and details of every inch of their bodies are hair-raisingly vivid; they certainly stole the show. The Maze was also truly remarkable and unparalleled. The amount of precision with which the brutal blocks of concrete and metal were created is breathtaking. The in-depth illustration of the unrelenting labyrinth leaves you pining to explore it, as it seems so wondrously real. Overall a spectacular visual

The film "My Fair Lady" directed by George Cukor is an adaptation of the play "Pygmalion" by George Bernard Shaw. The movie is set in London in the early 1900s. Although the film has too many songs, I believe that it is overall very good and has great actors and actresses castes to play the rolls, and scenes that are an addition to the book that add a great new taste! The movie My Fair Lady starts with the main character, Eliza, as a poor girl selling flowers on an England street corner.…

Where as I normally end up arguing against why a film should be considered a horror film, this time I'm going other way and argue why Lightning Bug is a Horror film. As I stated in Horror, My Definition, a Horror film is a film that used dread and horror, while trying to evoke negative emotions. Lightning Bug does that for me, upon first viewing I wasn't that impressed and disregarded is horror elements. Instead focusing on how its a Coming of Age Drama. But after viewing the film never really settled and has passed through my mind on several occasions and when I reflect on the film it's dark and haunting undertones that remain.…

Jim Henson’s “Labyrinth”, reflect aspects of Bettelheim, and Freud’s theories. Both revolve around the subconscious, but Bettelheim’s theory compliments Freud’s. Bettelheim believes “Fairytales with the darkness of abandonment, death, witches, and injuries, allowed children to grapple with their fears in remote, symbolic terms which allow them to resolve conflicts within themselves (Armstrong)”. Whenever conflicts are aroused or being resolved within the person, it is often through their subconscious that these conflicts are being resolved. But in “Labyrinth” Sarah’s case merges both theories together and creates the concepts of threat, recovery, escape, and consolation.…

    1. Over a hundred people were involved in the production of this film. The entire cast and crew are not given equal credit in most films. The majority of the camera crew and other production workers are not given as much credit for their work as the actors and director/producers, even though they play a huge role in the development and production of the movie. The making of a huge blockbuster like ‘The Departed’ involves the use of an immense crew.…

I think it would be very hard to not like "Cinema Paradiso". My opinion is very bias because I personally loved the film, but I feel like its story contains something for everyone. It is brilliant in so many ways, from the music, to the character development, the relatable story, and so on. " Cinema Paradiso" has rightfully earned the attention and award recognition that it received. The movie wasn’t that as bad as I thought it would be. It began with Don and Lina in the acting set, making a film. They were seen by the public as a couple, but Don didn’t see it that way. I think the movie was great for how they made it work, what I mean by that is there is acting in acting. So like “Inception” the movie, a dream in a dream; I can compare the movie to that.…

I appreciate a pretty wide variety of films. I wouldn't call myself an indie junkie, but I like creativity that gets me to think or be aware in a new way and indie can certainly do that. Of course, sometimes aspects of a film will evade me (what was X about? what did Y mean?) and then I seek out others--and IMDb--to fill in the gaps.…

As far back as I can remember, reading has always been a tremendous part of my life. Growing up, my mother introduced reading as one of the most important skills I could learn. Throughout my childhood, my entire family constantly incorporated reading into my daily schedule by helping me complete word searches, reading books, or rehearsing the ABC’s. Every night before bed, my mother and I would read a page out of a children’s bible book called Blessings Every Day as opposed to the classic Green Eggs and Ham. Reading has taught me how to exercise my imagination, how to effectively communicate with others, and relieves my stress.…
