It transitioned from personnel management to HR as an aim to focus on its long-term employees rather than short-term needs. The HR department has developed to encompass a model that has a strong front and middle support. The model builds a “much needed credibility for the HR function…through a close alignment to the business managers that are paying the bills” (Kates, 2006). As shown in the graphic, in the back-end, there are small teams with a mix of skills. The front staff acts as a customer relationship manager. The middle staff, which is usually the generalist, acts as a solution center for the different departments around the hospital. These individuals are typically in recruiting/staffing, HRIS, employee relations, and compensation. This type of model allows for the HR department to focus more the objectives of the company as it targets different each employees. Currently, there are two front-end staff at each of our locations. As a whole, the human resources department has over 800 employees, including our overseas location in Abu Dhabi. #We made a recent addition to the staff by naming Joseph Cabral as the new Chief HR Officer shows recent changes in administration.
