The Vikings implanted a tactic of using a shield wall. This shield wall was activated by the Vikings when a rival army approached. This shield wall was constructed by linking together their shields creating an almost impermeable force field from attack. Although a very clever and useful tactic, it was practiced by more armies than that of the Vikings.
