she traveled back to the UK, as a single parent in 1992 with five small children. The family moved to Paignton in 1995 to be closer to Gaby's sister. Gaby's kids were African Yemeni and when they arrived they didn’t speak English. There were not many families like them in Paignton. So they experienced racism and became a victim of hate crimes. Gaby was having lots of problems and because she could not find help for her African kids. So she had to fight back physically, to protect her young ones that she loved very. Her kids were being attacked and when one of her sons was punched, Gaby threatened the criminal and had him arrested. SARI a (Scholarship and Research Integrity) program at Penn State walked in and brought her family to Bristol. Gaby has still witnessed hatred every day and sometimes she and her family come across racism. The big difference that her family finally understands is how to deal with hate crimes and where to find help if they ever need
