I have a detailed plan for my future, and I feel that it will help me to make good choices when I am planning further along in my life.

I know that attending Marquette will continue to better my work ethic. Serviam is an aspect of Marquette that I feel will challenge me and allow me to become a better Christian. This year I greatly enjoyed performing my service hours, and I know that at Marquette there will be even more opportunities to gain service hours. I hope that the service hours that I will perform will not only allow me to help my community, but to also grow in my faith and maybe even give back to the school. My Dad is the commander of the Hardin Legion Post, the Lions Club Pool coordinator, Bingo coordinator for our local Knights of Columbus, and a retired United States Air Force veteran. I did not realize what was happening until after the warm colored leaves had disappeared beneath the snow, quite like my old self had disappeared beneath my new self. It was December and, I had always hated the winter months. That winter was supposed to bring record-breaking cold weather, and living in northern Illinois meant frostbite galore. All I did those days was sit in a box (I’ve called school) for eight hours, and get home with eight more hours of homework. At least I had homework to get my mind off of it, at least for a little while I could still be sane.…

My passion to be a teacher in the Catholic school system has started a long time ago when I decided the teaching profession was for me. I was just coming out of my Catholic high school and I had made a decision to take a Bachelor of Health Science Degree, in physical education and biology with the end goal to become a high school teacher. It was during this time when I noticed myself asking for help a lot and depending on God’s plan to determine my success. " Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.…

Many sociological causes influenced my decision to attend college and more importantly, Clemson University. Factors such as family, class, gender, culture, race and age all played major and minor roles in why I am here today. Ever since I was a child, Clemson always was in the back of my mind as the college I had wanted to attend due to family ties to the University. As I entered my senior year of high school, this played a major role as I only applied to two colleges, Mississippi State University being the other. Upon receiving my acceptance letter to Clemson, the choice was abundantly clear…

Growing up in a traditional, Catholic family, I have attended Catholic school all my life, gone to church every Sunday, and attended youth groups and Christian camps during the summers. However, like many Catholic children, I was easily bored by the ritualistic, seemingly uninteresting traditions that made up the mass and the religion itself. Yet in the homily of one specific Sunday mass, the priest spoke about something that would change the path of my life profoundly. A missionary priest visiting our church, Fr.…

The job of a principal in any academic setting is a monumental task as students, curriculum, parents, teachers, faculty, legal issues, etc., all vie for guidance and attention. But I believe that the job of a Catholic school leader entails far more because I believe the profession of Catholic school leader is a vocation rooted in Christ. My role as a Catholic school principal is one of managerial leader, educational leader and most importantly as spiritual leader. It is my job to nurture a faith community that is built with relational trust and where my school can be transformed into a sacred place (Sergiovanni, 2015, p.12).…
