Throughout my childhood, I have always looked up to those who have been part of an elite organization, such as National Honor Society. When I received the application I was proud that my determination had paid off and I was now eligible to join National Honor Society. Before I moved to Miles I was part of the National Junior Honor Society, it was an inspiring occurrence that led me to become more involved in my community. I was able to help in Special Olympics, Relay for Life, and visit a Nursing Home. I now have the chance to join and help a community that has offered me great opportunities.…

I have participated in numerous amounts of service events through the well-established organization of National Honor Society, that has had a drastic and valuable influence emotionally, spiritually, and academically, that has altered my character and composition in a significant way. As a member of National Honor Society I was bestowed with many opportunities to give back to my community, but one has had a very meaningful influence during my contribution and once the event had concluded. Also being part of this organization it has pushed me academically, helping me to pursue a higher education not only to better my life, but to make an impact in lives around me. The service event that impacted and influenced me with great magnitude would be…
For over ten years my average day consisted of four main activities: school, homework, gymnastics, and sleep. While school breaks or holidays may have upset three of the four, competitive gymnastics was always a constant. Three hours a day five days a week with no off season left no room for apathy. During my years as a gymnast, I learned the lessons I am sure every athlete is taught— dedication, time management, and determination. However, gymnastics taught me two lessons that other athletes fail to learn thoroughly.…
Kaleena Siers Ms. DiSalle ELA7 asfkgsubc I was in my dad’s white pickup truck slowly making my way to gymnastics practice. All I had been thinking about was trying my roundoff back handspring since I woke up. I had just stopped doing physical therapy for my achilles and was really worried about trying my new flip. I have also made great friendships with peers outside of my usual classrooms which has helped shape me into a well rounded person. With National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society, we have bettered our community through projects such as a can food drive and buying Christmas gifts for children in need. National Honor Society has also helped me gain connections with our local Special Olympics where I volunteered this past year and plan to continue volunteering. As a member of Mu Alpha Theta, I helped to donate school supplies to children in need as well as a food drive and buying Christmas gifts for more children.…

Throughout my four years at Freeburg I have been involved in various clubs and organizations. Currently I am involved in six clubs, Student Council, Spirit Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, and Service Club. While I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the clubs the two in particular that I have enjoyed more are Student Council and Spirit Club. Throughout my senior year I have help presidency's in both of these clubs. Student Council came with many responsibilities, between the morning announcements every morning, leading meetings, and all the events that we put on I was kept extremely busy.…
I started gymnastics at the age of three. Running around and playing with others kept me excited to learn more and advance in the sport. I participated through the age of 13 before I decided to quit and concentrate more on school work. Gymnastics played a huge role into the person I am today. Having been a free spirited wild child, gymnastics was perfect for me.…
After many difficult, time consuming, painstaking hours of practice, it was the day of my first high school gymnastics meet. My team and I had been preparing for this all summer. Our dual against Emporia we were destined to win. Both my mom and my dad had came to watch me show off my hard work and cheer me on. That made me feel great, until it became time for me to compete on beam.…

The crowd is watching intensly as the gymnast soars over the vault and scores a perfect 10.00. The crowd goes wild! Gymnasts have to work hard to accomplish the difficult tasks of competing at gym meets all over the world. It takes a strong commitment and a positive attitude to become a competing gymnast. Gymnasts train for many hours of the week, the risk of injury is very high, but the rewards are worth it.…
