Introduction: A chemical reaction occurs when you mix baking soda and vinegar. The type of reaction that occurs when you mix the two is called a chemical reaction, the chemical property that is used is called reactivity. Some of the evidence that proves that a chemical change is occurring is when you start to hear a sizzle sound and gas starts to be produced. When the gas starts to produce you will see the bubbles start to rise. The two types of matter that are creating this reaction are called compounds. The formula for baking soda is NaHCO3 and the formula for vinegar is CH3COOH.

Measure and cut paper towel into 10 x 12 cm squares.
2. Put 10 mL of vinegar in the film canister.
3. Put your first amount of baking soda in the paper towel and fold it.
4. Put the wrapped paper towel in the film canister and snap the lid on quickly.
5. Shake the film canister and point it forward.
Results:
Do you think 5 mL of baking soda will shoot the farthest? Well the first time I shot the film canister with 5 mL of baking soda in it, it shot 357 cm. I thought if I held the film canister higher next time the length would go farther since it was only an inch above the table. Then, when I shot the same amount the second time it shot 500mL. This time the lid shot the paper towel of baking soda on the table. After that I shot the same amount one last time and got the length of 240 cm. But at first it wouldn’t shoot, so I shook it a little more to try mix the baking soda and vinegar and that still didn’t work. Finally, I just tried to pop the lid off by squeezing the sides of the film canister and it popped off but this might if effected the length of the

The first time I shot the film canister with 10mL of baking soda in it it shot 513 cm. After I shot this amount for the first time I really thought that 10mL or baking soda would work because it went farther than the 5mL of baking soda but I also noticed that before I shot the film canister some of the vinegar spilled out of the film canister. The second time I shot the 10mL of baking soda it shot 500 cm. When shot it this time I noticed that the lid didn’t shoot strait it went sideways this time. Then I shot the 10mL of baking soda the third and final time. This shot not only had the farthest length so far with 515 cm, it also was the only shot that hit Mrs.
