East Asian countries are continuing to outperform all other countries with South Korea having the best education system in the world. Around 50 years ago Korea had a terrible education system due to civil war yet have recently turned this around to become the most successful. Now Finland is very focused and structured around children having fun at school and using learning methods that students are interested and passionate about. Finland has the 5th most successful education system following the east Asian countries which are South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong. Finish students start formal schooling at the age of 7 unlike Australian schools were children start school at around age 4 or 5. They strongly believe in letting children be children which means shorter school hours and to learn through exploring and figuring things out for themselves. I believe that if Australia incorporated some of these learning techniques into the system children would become much happier at school, meaning learning is easier. To help improve our system, action needs to be taken immediately and can simply be improved by using techniques that leading countries are using. The use of extended school hours for students who are in senior years and are committed to attending post secondary school education, using savvy and appealing learning techniques, having the same teacher throughout primary schooling and requiring 15 minute breaks during classes for high school students would dramatically improve our results and
