Executive Summary
Auburn University Montgomery, established in 1967 at the request of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce on behalf of local and state leaders, is an institution that offers more than 90 areas of study, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, Some unique programs include Geographic Information Systems, Hospitality and Tourism, Homeland Security, and Cyber systems and Information Security. Organized into five academic units the institution includes: the College of Business, College of Education, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and College of Public Policy and Justice (Auburn University Montgomery, 2016). The schools offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in traditional, online and hybrid formats, available for day, evening, and weekend instruction. Auburn Montgomery is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and ranks among the South’s top universities by U.S. News and World Report. Mission Statement The mission of Auburn University at Montgomery is to provide quality and diverse educational opportunities at the undergraduate and graduate levels through use of traditional and electronic delivery systems, and to foster and support an environment conducive to teaching, research, scholarship, and collaboration with government agencies, our community, and other educational institutions.

(AUM, 2016b) Student Enrollment Student enrollment at Auburn University, Montgomery during the 2015-2016 school terms has showed 4,257 undergraduate students and 662 graduate students for a grand total of 4,919 students. Over the years the enrollment has fluctuated some but has remained steady for the past three years as seen in figure 1. (AUM, 2016,Figure 1) Infrastructure Plans Auburn University Montgomery’s existing science lab is outdated. As a provider of multiple health science programs, the university is in need of state-of-the-art laboratory space for not only those health science programs, but for the traditional sciences like biology and chemistry, and faculty research as well. The new facility will include laboratories and classrooms and, in addition to allowing students to work in innovative laboratories more like those they will be exposed to post-graduation. The new facility will help the university attract more highly qualified students and faculty committed to research. A new wellness center is also a part of the institutions growth and move towards innovation. The Wellness Center serves as Auburn University at Montgomery’s front-door facility, providing a fresh, modern image for the University (AUM, 2016c). The Wellness Center provides a place for today’s fitness-conscious students and offer fitness memberships to the community, including discounted memberships for Auburn University at Montgomery alumni and friends. Amenities include a swimming pool, workout facilities, a rock-climbing wall, a second-level running track that overlooks activities below, two multi-sport indoor courts, and a juice/smoothie bar. In addition, the Center will be the new home of the College of Education’s Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science and will include approximately five classrooms, office space for faculty, and AUM’s state-of-the-art Human Performance Laboratory (AUM, 2016d). On August 12, 2013 AUM had a grand opening of Warhawk Hall, a new five-story, 144,740-square-foot residence hall located near the main entrance to campus, across from the Wellness Center (AUM, 2013). Warhawk Hall takes campus living to a new prospective for the institution and its students. While providing much-needed housing, it boasts a two-story recreational center - The Nest - which offers all housing residents across campus a new place to study and take part in student activities. Updates on Accreditation or reviews on degree programs Auburn University at Montgomery is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award bachelors, masters, educational specialist and doctoral degrees. AUM was first accredited in 1973 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The review for accreditation is done every ten years with its most recently in 2008, accreditation reaffirmed by the Southern Association. AUM will be up for reaffirmation in 2018. Financial Statistics During the fiscal year of 2014-2015, Auburn University Montgomery’s operating expenditures totaled $21,882,593 with operating revenues totaling $71,661,617. The revenue comparison of 2008 to 2014 shows that state appropriations for 2008 were at 52%,
